A Competition To Encourage The Emergence Of New Tourism Projects

The Minister of Tourism, Nicole Bouteau, accompanied by the Minister of Culture, Heremoana Maamaatuaiahutapu, as well as representatives of the Tourism, Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services and Trades (CCISM), Development Fund for French Polynesia (SOFIDEP), Air Tahiti Nui, and the Syndicate of Travel Agencies of French Polynesia, presented on Monday morning, at the Presidency, the competition “Creation and economic development of companies in The field of tourism “.

As part of its efforts to stimulate economic growth, the country wishes to strengthen its support for the creation and development of companies in sectors particularly favorable to the economic development of the country. It is in this perspective that the Ministry of Tourism is launching this competition, in particular to encourage the emergence of new tourism projects. This competition is also intended to accompany tour operators in setting up projects to consolidate, develop or create a new tourist offer.

This competition also aims to offer prospects in terms of job creation and employment and focuses on the consolidation, development or creation of a new tourist offer as well as the development of a new clientele. In particular, it should make it possible to reinforce the country’s policy in favor of the tourism sector and to promote the tourist development of the natural and cultural heritage.

The opening of the competition takes place today, Monday 28 August, with a submission of applications on 20 October.Hearings of pre-selected projects are scheduled for 30 and 31 October. The prize-giving ceremony will be held on 17 November. The total amount of prizes awarded is 14 000 000 Fcfp, divided among the seven best projects selected by the jury. The 1 ^st prize will receive $ 5 million Fcfp, 2 ^nd prize, four million French Pacific francs, and the 3 ^rd prize, 3,000,000 Fcfp. An amount of 500 000 Fcfp will be awarded to each of the following winners.

The jury is composed of the Minister in charge of Tourism, the Minister in charge of Culture, the Director of the CCISM, the Director of Tahiti Tourisme, the Head of Tourism, the Director of SOFIDEP, Air Tahiti Nui, the President of the Syndicate of Travel Agencies of French Polynesia or their respective representatives. The regulations are available for download on the Tourism Service’s websites: www.servicedutourisme.gov.pf and Tahiti Tourisme: www.tahiti-tourisme.pf .

Three competitions for the creation and development of companies have already been launched in 2016 in the fields of food industry, economy and digital, as part of the government’s economic recovery strategy.
