Air Kiribati’s Newest Addition Dash 8… Operating soon
The Dash 8 arrives in Kiribati on the 30th October 2017 and has received its Airworthiness Certificate on the 2nd or 3rd of December 2017. Mr Rochford, Commercial & Operation Manager for Air Kiri-bati has mentioned that Dash 8 is going to undertake its 50-100 hours of ‘proving flights’ for verification since this is the first Dash 8 to fly in Kiribati. He also added that within December, Air Kiribati is expecting its Air Operating Certificate from the Civil Aviation Authority of Kiribati (CAAK). The exact date cannot be confirmed at this time since it’s still with the hands of CAAK. Air Kiribati also have plans and expect that the Dash 8 will be flying in January 2018 to the four cho-sen Gilbert Islands of Abemama, Tab North, Nikunau and Butaritari. It also plans to fly to Majuro and Funafuti in January as well but this will depend on receiving regulatory approvals from the government of both Tuvalu and the Marshall Islands (Rochford, D. 2017).
