Akura – The Cook Islands Maori word for “Marlin”.
Akura is a 40 foot Pelin hull sportsfisher with full amenities and can carry up to 16 anglers comfortably. Our top-quality Shimano and Penn gear and qualified crew can accomodate to any level of fisherman. Big groups or small, families or friends, experienced anglers or first-timers – Akura has the ingredients to make your Rarotonga fishing charter the most memorable and exciting part of your whole holiday.
We have one of Rarotonga’s most experienced fisherman to take you out for a fishing adventure. Captain George Koteka has fished Rarotonga’s waters for most of his life and holds many fishing records. Our second skipper Cameron Thorp is a licensed USCG captain and has worked aboard Akura for 4 years. Our boys also recently hold the record for the largest blue marlin caught in the Cook Islands!
The advantage of deep sea fishing Rarotonga is that the deep water is not far from the reef, so after only a few minutes of taking off, you’re dropping your line. Fishing in Rarotonga is year round and we target all pelagic species including tuna, wahoo, mahi mahi, and marlin. We offer shared and private charters and let us fillet your catch for you to take home!
