The American Samoa Visitors Bureau kicked off its 2018 South Pacific Tourism Exchange campaign today (April 12) with a full schedule of meetings with buyers from Australia, USA, China, India, Fiji and Singapore. Attending the 5th SPTE in Adelaide, Australia.
Executive Director David Vaeafe said the caliber of buyers this year showed a significant shift from the traditional travel agent shop operation to more online travel agency (OTA’s) and diverse digital campaigns.
“Tomorrow we have another full schedule of meetings with buyers from around the world and the response to American Samoa’s tourism offerings so far has been very positive.
We are representing our entire industry and buyers we spoke to today are very interested in doing business with our industry,” he said.
Also attending SPTE is American Samoa’s reigning Miss Pacific Islands, Matauaina To’omalatai as the Global Tourism Ambassador for the South Pacific Tourism Organisation, the organizers of the event.

Later this month the ASVB will partner with Hawaiian Airlines (PPG) to showcase the destination at the Samoa Tourism Exchange (STE) in Apia, Samoa from April 30 to May 2. Also attending the event will be hotelier Sadies by the Sea. Both the ASVB and HA have a full schedule of meetings lined up for STE with new buyers from around the world.
