The Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards Board of Trustees has undergone leadership transitions after a successful season in 2016. Vice-Chairman Bill Whiting succeeds James Sowane as ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Board of Trustees Chairman. This followed Mr Sowane’s resignation from the Board in April to focus on his business Pacific Destinations’ new directions.
Mr Sowane’s leadership tenure had seen the rebranding of FETA’s logo; securing of three-year term Naming Rights sponsorship with ANZ; launch of new FETA Winner & Finalist digital badges. The Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards Gala Dinner continues to gain momentum as the most highly rated and anticipated national tourism event.
Mr Whiting said FETA had grown under Mr Sowane’s leadership.
Mr Whiting added: “In preparation for the 2017 awards the trustees have been working to review the awards categories and entry criteria to make it easier for companies and individuals to submit entries.”
The Board of Trustees welcomed Craig Powell as a new Trustee. He has a wealth of experience in hotel operations and tourism management both in Fiji and abroad.
The Board of Trustees are Bill Whiting (chairman), Olivia Mavoa (deputy chair), Dixon Seeto, Matthew Stoeckel and Craig Powell whilst YP Reddy continues as an honorary member.
