Tourism Workshop Aims To Improve Business
9 January 2018As we look back on 2017, we are pleased with the economic contribution the tourism industry has provided for the Cook Islands and its people. The growth in tourism has enabled the Cook Islands Government to fund many of the public services currently undertaken. I congratulate you all for the hard work and great partnership to grow the Cook Islands tourism industry.
This year the Corporation will embark on its destination marketing programmes for 2018. We continue to build the awareness of the Cook Islands global brand that is supported by key strategies particularly in the digital space. We are confident with the work of our international team to promote the Cook Islands in key source markets of New Zealand, Australia, North America, UK & Nordic, Northern Europe, Southern Europe, China, Japan and other emerging markets.
We will demonstrate the operational versatility required to align our strategic direction to the constantly shifting industry environment. The work in Destination Development is vital for preparing our destination to meet community expectations and support environmental needs.
Our financial prudence has allowed us to solely focus on our core functions of Destination Marketing and Destination Development. We are also broadening our scope on key airline and cruise strategies that underpin the tourism industry.
May I take this opportunity to thank you all for your tireless efforts and contributions and we look forward to a prosperous 2018!
