21 March 2018The Kiribati National Tourism Office [KNTO] has been informed by Mr. Tekaai Mikaere, the Managing Director of SAOK, that the cruise ship, MS Bremen, will make a call to Butaritari on the morning of November 1st 2018 and de-part in the afternoon on the same day.
Following the confirmation, officers from the KNTO made an official trip to Butaritari on the 2nd to 4th March to meet up with the Butaritari Island Council Mayor and Clerk to discuss planning and preparations of the cruise excursion activities prior to the call of MS Bremen.
The tourism officers along with the Mayor also made a trip to the island of Bikati to inform the island councillor and identify a beach where the cruise passengers can use and also determine sites for snorkelling.
It is expected that the cruise ship passengers will disembark in the morning at approximately 7am where they will be greeted, garlanded, offered green coconut refreshments and entertained with traditional island dances.
The locals will also be offered with business opportunities to sell souvenirs and entertain to earn some tourist dollar.
It is also expected that the cruise passengers will head to Bikati Island to do some snorkeling & swimming activities prior to their departure.
