Announcement: The first signatories of the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative were announced in July 2020, with the release of Recommendations for the tourism sector to continue taking action on plastic pollution during COVID-19 to support the ongoing debate on hygiene and sustainability, and which have now been translated into French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, and Russian.
Tourism businesses and organizations have since applied the recommendations to developing COVID-19 recovery plans, revising standard operating procedures, and defining plastic management strategies.
