First Vanuatu High Commissioner To New Zealand Appointed

“In my first duty as Minister of Foreign Affairs, I look forward to joining you to open your new office in Wellington, New Zealand.”

Newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ralph Regenvanu, has made the statement while congratulating the former Director General to the Office of the Prime Minister, Johnson Naviti, to the post of Vanuatu’s first ever High Commissioner to New Zealand yesterday.

The Minister said New Zealand is a historical friend as well as a very important partner since the RSE was signed between the two countries 10 years ago.

Vanuatu currently boasts a record total of 4,000 ni-Vanuatu workers working on farms in New Zealand, topping all sending countries in the Region.

The Minister says his appointment confirms the importance the Vanuatu Government holds in its relationship with Wellington.

“And you as a key man in Government and I am thankful it is you, you also understand the reason for your appointment before you leave,” the Minister says.

“Our purpose in Foreign Affairs is to maximize all opportunities in international relations and in this case, New Zealand.

“I have every trust and confidence that you will deliver on your mandate as Vanuatu’s High Commissioner to New Zealand.”

The Minister also reminds him to weigh what is expected of him at all times before executing his duties saying he is being paid by tax payers of Vanuatu and he has to be accountable for all his actions.

In his response, the veteran public servant promises to carry out his duties in Wellington to the best of his ability to serve his Government and country through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
