Regional Sustainable Tourism Enhancement in the Pacific Workshop Gathers Pacific Stakeholders to Advance Sustainable Tourism and Circular Economy Integration across Pacific Island Countries
30 April 2025The Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) is pleased to announce the participation of four key regional carriers – Fiji Airways, Nauru Airlines, Solomon Airlines, and Air Niugini – at the upcoming South Pacific Tourism Exchange (SPTE) 2025 taking place May 9-10 at the Crowne Plaza Fiji Nadi Bay Resort & Spa in Nadi, Fiji, reinforcing the critical role of air connectivity in unlocking the Pacific’s tourism potential as well as SPTO’s Strategic plan strategic focus area, connecting tourism and aviation.
With the theme “Unity in Diversity: Exploring the Pacific’s Hidden Gems,” SPTE 2025 serves as a vital platform for strengthening partnerships between tourism operators, government agencies, development partners, and transport providers. The confirmed presence of the region’s leading airlines signals a shared commitment to enhancing access, sustainability, and resilience in the Pacific tourism landscape.
“Air connectivity is the key to unlocking tourism in the Pacific. The participation of these four airlines is not only a testament to the strength of our aviation sector but also a powerful statement about the importance of connecting tourism and the aviation sector in rebuilding and reimagining tourism across our Blue Pacific,” said Chris Cocker, CEO of SPTO.
As national carriers, Fiji Airways, Nauru Airlines, Solomon Airlines, and Air Niugini each play a crucial role in connecting island nations both regionally and internationally. Their involvement in SPTE 2025 will offer tourism operators and buyers a first-hand look at current and upcoming flight services, route and strategic aviation developments, as well as cooperative marketing opportunities that support growth across the Pacific’s tourism sector.
The event is set to host a variety of strategic sessions and networking opportunities that place regional connectivity at the heart of conversations around sustainable tourism development. Media and delegates alike will gain valuable insights into how air services are expanding to meet growing demand, as well as how integrated efforts across the tourism value chain are making the Pacific more accessible than ever.
