Sport-related tourism remains high on the SIVB agenda and with dive and fishing festivals now firmly fixed on the local events calendar, the NTO has also been in discussion with an Australian based soccer club to look at the possibility of a Honiara-based tournament also involving teams from Fiji and Vanuatu.
The SIVB is also lending support to the Western Solomons Surfing Association which is keen to establish an annual tournament with participation from Fiji, Vanuatu and Papua New Guinea.
The Solomon Islands will host the full Pacific Games in 2023.
