Inauguration Of The Venus Pointe Developments Tahiti

Overseas Minister Annick Girardin, President of French Polynesia Edouard Fritch, High Commissioner René Bidal and several members of the government, including Minister of Tourism Nicole Bouteau, surrendered on Wednesday. Venus Point, Mahina, for the inauguration ceremony of the site’s facilities.

Initiated by the country, through the Ministry of Tourism, and in collaboration with the mayor of Mahina, this operation consisted of developing a structured and landscaped parking area with an area of 6900 m² on the embankment. This now includes 125 parking spaces, including five for people with reduced mobility, and three for buses. A space for pedestrians has also been provided to facilitate access to the site.

Facilities for water activities have also been built, including an extension of the pontoon, which will facilitate access to lagoon tourism providers for their activity. In addition, the Venus Point lighthouse has been enhanced with an esplanade that extends over 500 m ² . A point of restoration and rental of water equipment has been designed near the beach, with also an aquatic trail that will be a discovery area of the lagoon and its ecosystem.

The work of rebuilding the fare for craftsmen has also been piloted by the Ministry of Crafts. This new space of 190 m² is mainly composed of an exhibition hall, a fitting room, and can accommodate ten craft associations affiliated to the federation “Te Fetia o Tefauroa”. This handicraft center bears the name of “Niufa” in tribute to Betty Taputuarai, for her involvement in the “Niufa” artisanal federation, of which she was the president from 1991 to 2015.

The entire operation, amounting to 220 million Fcfp, including studies and development works, was entirely financed by the country, with work starting last May. The objective of this operation was to rehabilitate the site of Venus Point in order to adapt it to the large attendance of the population and tourists, the site being part of the product “tour of the island” proposed by the travel agencies.
