Pine Island was named the second best cruise destination in Asia and the Pacific by cruise passengers themselves on the Cruise Critic website.
Cruise Critic is the reference on the Internet for the evaluation and referencing of cruises around the world. Like Trip Advisor, which is a subsidiary of Cruise Critic. It counts more than six million unique visitors per month and 350,000 notices posted.
An average of 4.4 out of 5
For the last two years, this community site ranks the 400 stopovers, referenced by geographical area, taking into account only the average of the ratings and the number of comments published by the users of the site. After being ranked fourth last year, the Island of Pines stopover climbed in 2017 to second place on the podium, just behind Singapore, with an average of 4.4 out of 5 and more than 170 reviews published.
“In addition to being a great media showcase for the Island of Pines, this prize can be displayed on the promotional materials of tour operators as a guarantee of quality for the destination,” says Jean-Marc Mocellin, CEO Of New Caledonia Tourism Point South (NCTPS) which intends also to exploit it on the own communication tools of the GIE.
A good point for the development of the New Caledonian tourism sector, whose institutions, first and foremost the government, have made it one of their priorities.
