6 November 2017As part of the implementation of the country’s tourism development strategy 2015-2020, the Tahiti Ministry of Tourism and the Tourism Department, in close collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and the Directorate of Youth and Sports , wish to be able to extend and diversify the offer of tourist activities around water and water recreation, to allow tourist tourists and residents to make the most of our lagoons, and our young people to be able to promote the creation of a professional activity.
To this end, the Ministry of Tourism commissioned the consulting company Easy Nautique, specialized in water sports, for a mission of assistance of the Country in the definition of a strategy of development of the physical activities and nautical sports with tourist vocation.
Thus, light sailing, gliding activities (kite, paddle), rowing activities (va’a, kayaking, rowing), diving, snorkeling, snorkeling, recreational sport fishing, motor boating (jet-ski, wake, flyboard) and nautical and cultural activities such as traditional or modern sailing pirogues, will be at the heart of this study.
The mission, scheduled over ten months, will initially consist of an inventory of both the actors and the currently available offer, its evolution, its potential, the analysis of local and international demand, and inventory. training to supervise these activities. Then, after a benchmark of competing destinations, it will be a question of elaborating a strategy of development of these activities and a plan of actions adapted to our islands. After validation of these strategic axes, detailed action sheets will be made available to the services of the country.
In order to give itself every chance that this strategy will result in concrete and coherent actions, the Minister of Tourism, Nicole Bouteau, wished from the beginning of this study, to involve both the services of the country and the State concerned, the Assembly of French Polynesia, the union for the promotion of municipalities, all the players in the field and the presidents of sports federations in connection with water sports. Together they constitute the project group of this study, and were therefore invited to this first meeting which allowed a presentation of the mission, its stakes, its stages and the expected objectives.
