Miss American Samoa Pageant 2017-2018

On September 15th, 2017 six beautiful young women will gather at the Rex H. Lee Auditorium to compete for the title of Miss American Samoa 2017 – 2018.
This year’s contestants are Salamasina Itu’aumalosi Aumua from the villages of Nu’uuli and Malaeimi; and she is sponsored by O&O Inc.
From the village of our reigning Miss American Samoa, Antonina Lilomaiava, there will be two contestants Shalom Moana, who is sponsored by Paradise Pizza, and Sharene Tofi Smith, sponsored by Napa Samoa, where she works as a store supervisor.
Fourth contestant, Feiloa’i Thompson, is from the villages of Afonotele, Alao and Ofu (Manu’a); and she is being sponsored by her friends and family.
From Leone and Malaeimi, Annie Masoe is our final local contestant, sponsored by MC’s Auto Shop.
Lastly, we have one off island contestant, Matau’aina To’omalatai who is sponsored by a local fashion business, Lalelei. Although she lives in Hawaii, ‘Aina, as she is called by friends and family, represents the village of Onenoa, where her family is from.
This year also marks the 25th Anniversary of Miss American Samoa, Inc. (MASI), an organization founded to assist in the coordination of local pageants, as well as prepare the winner for the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant; and with this 25 year milestone, MASI has fashioned a pageant theme, “Toe Tepa Tasi” (to glance back), dedicated to the legacy of women who have held the title of Miss American Samoa over the years.
Former title-holders in attendance will be given the chance to walk the runway, as they once did when they won the tile. This tribute to the past adds an appealing element to this annual event, and is sure to put it over the top.
Everyone is invited, and in the words of MASI President, Meafou Imo, “Come out and support your favorite contestant!”
