The debates highlighted and identified various issues that can arise from the growth of the various segments of nautical tourism, which today represents almost 8% of the total economic impact of tourism, and up to 25% to 30 % If one adds the segment of the cruise (liner). The importance of the flows concerned, which practically doubled between 2012 and 2016, calls on the public authorities notably to organize the maritime area and the possible regulation of activities in the lagoons.
The Minister hoped that the synergies and dynamics that have enabled the development of nautical tourism can be fully activated again to allow a constructive structuring of the nautical and maritime sectors.
A first meeting with the communes of the Leeward Islands is to be organized soon to discuss these subjects and to consider with them the modalities of a second phase of multiannual action which could be formalized on the occasion of the 3 The “Nautical Tourism Meetings in the Leeward Islands” before the end of 2017.
