The opening of 16 new rooms in Rarotonga in August has met with favourable feedback from the Kiwi travel trade and will help ease some pressure on accommodation as late winter bookings come in for the island destination.

Club Raro is launching its new build Tamure Suites for sales as of 1 July for bookings into August 2018 onwards.

New Zealand representative for Club Raro in New Zealand, Raumati Barbara of Coconuts Travel Marketing, says a number of product managers have viewed the extra inventory recently and were impressed with what they saw.

‘They provide a new affordable option for couples and we certainly expect demand out of this market,’ says Barbara. The suites will actually sleep up to two adults and one child or three adults with an extra person rate applying to the third adult. The new studio suites have their own balcony or patio areas and are located where the resort’s tennis court used to be. The area is undergoing landscaping to provide privacy and enable guests to have their own areas for barbecuing and private functions.

Raumati Barbara says agents who have clients seeking to escape the cold weather will find a particularly attractive option to recommend.

‘The rooms will (normally) be sold at $300 per night, but for the launch of the suites, Club Raro will be providing a Tamure celebration with 40% off sales in July, with travel from August to December 2018. This includes Club Raro’s new breakfast buffet.’

Meantime, all guests at Club Raro will have breakfast included in their room rate from 1 July. The previous tropical breakfast has been revamped to include a hot selection to cater to guests needs.

‘We identified that our guests like to come in and have a good breakfast with us and then head out for the day exploring Rarotonga,’ says general manager Donye Numa. ‘When we asked what they wanted on the buffet the resounding response was a hot option.’

The change means that Club Raro now offer a bed and breakfast option. Existing ‘room only’ bookings have the benefit of receiving the breakfast buffet without added charge.
