New Caledonia Tourism Names New GM

New Caledonia Tourism has announced the promotion of Julie Laronde to General Manager, following nomination from its board of directors.

Laronde was previously the deputy GM for the organisation – a position she held since 2010. Prior to that, Laronde worked for the New Caledonian government as its tourism office manager and deputy head of economic development.

In her new role, Laronde will oversee the promotion of both international and domestic tourism to New Caledonia and the South Province. She replaces John-Marc Mocellin, who recently joined Tahiti Tourisme as its new CEO.

Commenting on her new role, Laronde said: “I am honoured and excited to step into the role of general manager, especially during these unprecedented times.

“I am committed to continuing to build local and international visitation to New Caledonia and the South Province, and I look forward to working with the New Caledonia Tourism team to put into place a bold marketing strategy that engages and mobilises our stakeholders like never before, especially during this challenging global climate.

“We are confident the industry will recover. We are working hard, and when travel reboots, we will be ready. I send my best wishes and support to the Australian people and tourism industry, and look forward to welcoming our Australian neighbours again soon.”
