New Miss American Samoa Crowned

Twenty-three year old Matauaina To’omalatai was last month crowned Miss American Samoa 2017-2018 to a packed Rex Lee Auditorium in Utulei.
Born in the village of Onenoa, from the eastern end of Tutuila Island, Matauaina is currently studying nursing at the University of Hawaii and after graduating wants to specialize in the treatment and care of diabetes patients as well as raising awareness and education of the disease.

Matauaina now joins the staff at the American Samoa Visitors Bureau for the duration of her reign and begins preparations to compete at the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant to be held in Nadi, Fiji from December 1-9, 2017.
