New Vanuatu Consul General To New Caledonia

Residents of Vanuatu living in New Caledonia do not need to travel to Vanuatu to renew their passports anymore because they now have a new Consul General to replace former Consult General Raymond Manuake.

Serge Mahe, a senior officer from the Department of Foreign Affairs has been appointed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ralph Regenvanu last Friday.

The Minister says not only is New Caledonia Vanuatu’s closest neighbour but it has a long lasting connection with Vanuatu because today, it has the largest Vanuatu community living there.

The Minister says, “As the new Minister of Foreign Affairs, I am confident that you will do a good job because you are already doing a good job here in Vanuatu.

“I am also confident the welfare of the ni Vanuatu community in New Caledonia is your first priority to take care of to ensure that people are well represented as far as their needs are concerned.”

Also the Minister reminds him of Vanuatu’s outstanding issues with New Caledonia saying the Government is confident he will pursue them.

“I take this chance to wish you all the best in your new duties as the new Consul General in New Caledonia,” he said.

In reply Serge Mahe thanks the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Council of Ministers for having faith in him to be able to carry out his duties as the Vanuatu’s Consul General in New Caledonia.

“I will do my best to build on and improve the work of the Consul General in New Caledonia.

“I am also confident that I will be able to expand on my duties to venture into other areas of development including sports and culture while focusing on my duties at government to government and people to people levels.”
