The vice-president, Teva Rohfritsch, participated on Tuesday, at the opening of the annual conference of Tahiti Tourism.
This annual conference, held every year, brings together the headquarters of Tahiti Tourism, in charge of marketing the destination, and the representatives of the international markets (America, Europe and Asia-Pacific). These are fourteen international offices that promote Tahiti and its islands and provide visibility on eighteen issuing markets.

He also recalled the importance of tourism in the country’s economy, which represents “more than 11% of our enterprises, more than 17% of salaried employment” , a global turnover of tourism enterprises of ” more than 109 billion Fcfp per year and tourist revenues close to 53 billion Fcfp in 2016 “ . In addition to the growth of the sector over the past three years, he described the tourism figures for 2017 as encouraging. According to ISPF (Institute of Statistics of French Polynesia), in its point of conjuncture of May 2017, ” the number of tourists increased by 6.6% compared to 2016 figures for the same period. So in May 2017, we welcomed more than 191,570 tourists to Polynesia. “
