Pacific Tourism Family Mourn a Great Loss

The Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) and the wider tourism industry are greatly saddened by the passing of Tourism Solomons Chief Executive and SPTO Deputy Board Chairman, Mr. Josefa Tuamoto.

Over the span of his career, Mr. Tuamoto served the industry in a number of roles and will be remembered fondly and with great appreciation for his years of service to the Pacific.

Within the SPTO family, Mr. Tuamoto served on various Board Sub Committees and was last year elected as Deputy Board Chairman.

“Jo was always willing to contribute to the sustainable growth and development of our Pacific Tourism Industry. His wealth of knowledge and experience, along with his warm personality, was inspiring and made him a pleasure to work with”, said SPTO Board Chairman, Mr. Halatoa Fua.

“I know I speak for us all, when I say that Jo’s passing is a great loss for our region and indeed our industry. He will be greatly missed”.

SPTO CEO, Christopher Cocker, recalled working with Mr. Tuamoto for over 20 years in various capacities within the tourism industry.

“Jo was a true son of the Pacific and a dear friend. His sound leadership and advice always shone through at our Board meetings and often provided a way forward in difficult situations. It has been a privilege knowing Jo on both a personal and professional level, our industry is indebted to him for his valuable contributions over the years”, he said.
