2 April 2025The Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) recently met with Tourism Fiji (TF) representatives to discuss key updates on the upcoming South Pacific Tourism Exchange (SPTE) 2025, hosted buyer engagement, and future collaboration opportunities.
During the meeting, SPTO provided Tourism Fiji with an overview of the current buyer and seller numbers, including potential UK/EU market leads. The SPTO team met with Fiji Tourism Executive Director of Regions, Robert Thompson and Regional Support Manager Antonio Racika.
Discussions also focused on the increasing demand for niche markets, particularly adventure tourism, and the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) sector. Both organisations acknowledged the need to align SPTE buyer engagement strategies with these growing markets to attract high-value travelers.
Looking ahead, SPTO and TF explored the possibility of collaborating at AIME 2026, one of the leading trade events for the business events industry. Discussions also centred on SPTO hosting a dedicated session allowing the Pacific to explore market opportunities through this participation further.
“Collaboration with Tourism Fiji is essential to strengthening buyer engagement and enhancing the visibility of Pacific tourism on the global stage,” said SPTO Chief Executive Officer Christopher Cocker. “These discussions pave the way for greater synergies and strategic partnerships that benefit the entire region.”
SPTO remains committed to fostering industry collaboration and driving tourism growth in the Pacific
