Mr. Atama Tamanilo has been appointed as the Digital Marketing Officer for the Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO). Having previously worked at the Fiji Sun as Deputy Managing Editor (Digital), Atama has a strong ICT and digital marketing/communications background.
In announcing the appointment, Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) CEO Mr. Christopher Cocker, emphasized the strategic importance of Atama’s recruitment and SPTO’s digital transformation, particularly in light of the complexities created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Digitalization has been an area of untapped potential for some time now; not only for SPTO but for many of the National Tourism Offices of our member countries”, he said.
“Well before COVID-19, we recognized the need to transition from traditional to digital marketing and the rationale behind that has become even more important now because of the pandemic and the new normal which will ensue”
“We are delighted to welcome Atama to our team. He will be working alongside our new Marketing Manager and I am confident in their ability to lead the digital transformation of the organisation and our membership”, said Mr. Cocker.
Atama has a Bachelor of Science (Computer Science and Information Systems) and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Information Technology from the University of the South Pacific.
