21 August 2024On Monday, August 12th, the Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) held discussions with key Fiji Tourism stakeholders to discuss SPTO’s upcoming Strategic Plan 2025-2029. SPTO CEO Christopher Cocker and Private Sector Development Initiative (PSDI) Consultant David Ermen met with stakeholders from Tourism Fiji, Tanoa International, Radisson Blu, the Society of Fiji Travel Associates, and virtual meetings with Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association, and Fiji Airways.
The meetings focused on gaining insights into the latest developments in Fiji’s tourism industry, updating stakeholders on the new strategic plan, and gathering feedback on the proposed Strategic Focus Areas (SFAs).
Mr Cocker mentioned that the objective of this project was to continue to raise SPTO’s profile, providing an update on the status of the Strategic Plan development and gathering feedback on the proposed Strategic Focus Areas.
He highlighted that the meetings were also to promote SPTE 2025 and conduct site visits at potential venues for the May 2025 workshops.
“The Nadi Tourism Stakeholders provided valuable feedback, such as confirming that the proposed Strategic Focus Areas were what they wanted SPTO to do and suggested initiatives under some of the SFAs for SPTO to consider. David Ermen updated stakeholders on the new strategic plan, including its status and upcoming plans, and highlighted the SFAs.
“The latest updates on Fiji’s tourism industry development were gathered from the stakeholder’s meetings and potential collaborative initiatives. Both parties explored and defined SPTO’s potential role in supporting tourism development in Fiji and the region,” Mr Cocker said.
