SPTO Chief Executive, Christopher Cocker, conducted a series of tourism stakeholder meetings in Nadi from 7th – 9th April, with a wide range of partners including Radisson Fiji, Tourism Fiji, Association of South Pacific Airlines (ASPA), Society of Fiji Travel Associates (SOFTA) , Fiji Airways, Rosie Holidays, Pacific Destination, ANZ Nadi, Western Arts & Crafts Society and Pacific Farmers Organisation Network (PIFON).
The visit was an important opportunity to increase awareness of SPTO’s role and future plans and also ensures that SPTO remains abreast of the latest developments in the industry.
“Biannual stakeholder visits have always been important for SPTO but in light of the pandemic they have taken on even more significance as we seek to better understand stakeholder experiences and raise awareness on SPTO’s COVID-19 recovery projects”, said Christopher Cocker.
SPTO’s COVID-19 recovery initiatives include the SPTO Jobs Link Website which is aimed at connecting unemployed tourism workers and employers and the Private Sector Development Initiative (PSDI) IV, a regional tourism project focusing on COVID-19 recovery. Moreover, SPTO is also anticipating phase 2 of New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (NZMFAT) support which will centre on enhancing the digital capabilities of SPTO and its membership.
