Pacific Tourism Organisation participates at PNG National Tourism Conference & Expo 2025
16 April 2025The Pacific made waves in Miami this April as the Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) returned to the world’s largest cruise trade show—Seatrade Cruise Global 2025, hosted at the iconic Miami Beach Convention Center from April 7th to 10th. With over 600 exhibitors and a sea of cruise professionals from every corner of the globe, the event proved once again why it’s the beating heart of the cruise tourism industry.
SPTO, in proud partnership with the South Pacific Cruise Alliance (SPCA), brought the vibrant spirit of the Pacific to the global stage. Representing a powerful alliance of destinations—including Fiji, Samoa, American Samoa, Tahiti, Tonga, Pitcairn Islands, and Vanuatu—the Pacific booth became a hub of cultural connection, business networking, and destination storytelling.
For SPTO, the mission at Seatrade was clear: position the Pacific as a premier sustainable cruise destination, unlock new partnership pathways, and speak up for the Small Island States unable to attend. The organisation met with heavyweights like making sure the Pacific voice rang loud and clear in industry discussions.
Rooted in its Strategic Plan 2025–2029, SPTO’s participation aligns with a renewed focus on cruise and yachting development. As cruise lines adapt to a new era of travel, the Pacific is poised to offer not only scenic beauty—but authentic, sustainable, and culturally rich experiences that travelers crave.
“Our presence at Seatrade is both strategic and symbolic,” Mr Cocker added. “It’s where we shape the future of sustainable cruise in the Pacific—connecting, listening, sharing, and inviting the world to journey with us.”
As the tides of global tourism shift, SPTO’s voyage continues—anchored in purpose, powered by partnerships, and guided by the dreams of the Blue Pacific.
“Our participation at Seatrade Cruise Global 2025 is a strategic investment in the future of sustainable cruise tourism in the Pacific. This platform not only allows us to position the Pacific as a compelling cruise destination, but also enables us to engage directly with global industry leaders, strengthen key partnerships, and advocate for our smaller island members who cannot attend in person,” Mr Cocker shared.
“It also presents a unique opportunity for our leadership team to recruit potential speakers for the Cruise Forum 2025 and participants for SPTE 2025. Events like Seatrade are vital for nurturing relationships and advancing our strategic objectives in cruise development across the region.”
SPTO shared its booth with Tourism Fiji (TF) and Fiji Airways (FJ) at the Pacific village. Their presence signifies renewed collaboration, especially around fly-cruise opportunities—a growing trend in global cruise travel.
“We appreciate and thank Fiji Airways and Tourism Fiji for being part of our Pacific booth this year. Having Fiji Airways and Tourism Fiji highlight our regional ambition to develop more integrated tourism experiences and encourages their re-engagement with SPCA, reinforcing our shared goals,” Mr Cocker said
