On behalf of the SPTO secretariat in Suva and of course our membership throughout the Pacific region, I would like to acknowledge and congratulate Fiji on its 50th Independence Anniversary. We wish the Fijian government and all of her people, the very best as they celebrate Fiji Day on Saturday October 10th. It is our sincere hope that Fiji will continue to prosper and enjoy many more years of peace and harmony.
As a valued member, host country of SPTO and a leading tourism destination in the region, Fiji continues to play an important role in the development and growth of the Pacific tourism industry. As such, its support and leadership in key areas such as regional air connectivity, labour supply and sustainable tourism development is greatly needed.
As we look ahead to post COVID-19 recovery, SPTO is committed to working with Fiji and all other member countries to ensure that Pacific tourism builds back stronger and better for the benefit of our shared Blue Pacific.
