The Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Deepak Prakash Chand as its new Research and Statistics Manager.
Deepak has a wealth of experience in research and has a strong background in designing and formulating policies and strategies to improve revenue, productivity and efficiency, data modelling and creating and assessing performance measurements.
In announcing the appointment, Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) CEO Mr. Christopher Cocker, acknowledged the importance of research and statistics in today’s marketplace and in providing important assistance to SPTO members as they navigate these uncertain times.
He said reliable and high quality statistics are essential for the development and monitoring of evidence based sustainable tourism policies. Adding that research and statistics were data driven.
“SPTO is currently focussed on digital transformation for tourism recovery in the Pacific, not only transforming destination marketing, sustainable planning and development but for tourism data and statistical information as well”.
“Having the research and statistics team will allow SPTO to use qualitative methods to derive meaning from data collected from its member countries to better forecast and make informed business decisions,” he said.
Deepak has a Masters of Commerce degree from the University of the South Pacific. Prior to joining the SPTO team, Deepak held the Manager Research position at the Fiji National University.
