Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) Participates in Seatrade Cruise Global 2022

The Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) participated at the Seatrade Cruise Global Conference in the United States last month. The event was held in Miami from April 25th -28th after a lapse of three years.

This year’s conference celebrated resilience – highlighting the industry’s collaborative efforts across sectors to create a safer, more innovative cruising experience adapted to ever-changing times.

SPTO’s Chief Executive Mr. Christopher Cocker and Marketing Manager Mr. Zaheer Hassan attended the week-long event.

SPTO CEO Mr. Cocker said the Seatrade Cruise Global conference offered optimized networking opportunities and allowed SPTO to gain first-hand knowledge and network with cruise industry stakeholders. He said the conference provided valuable updates on the cruise industry, trends and market insights that would assist SPTO and its member countries navigate during recovery. 

Mr. Cocker added that discussions at the event would also assist the organisation and the Pacific island nations keen on developing the Cruise and Yachting sector in the Pacific which is also part of SPTO’s strategic priorities and partnerships.

“Our presence at the event allowed SPTO to assist with queries on behalf of our member countries who could not attend the event. It also opened up discussions with various stakeholders to better navigate the cruise network industry for us here in the Pacific,” he said.

The participation at the event was coordinated by the South Pacific Cruise Alliance (SPCA) on behalf of its members which include Fiji, SPTO, Tonga, Samoa, Tahiti, Pitcairn Islands, Wallis and Futuna, American Samoa and Cook Islands. The event was physically attended by representatives of SPCA, SPTO, Tahiti, Samoa and Pitcairn Island.

The Seatrade Cruise Global is the cruise industry’s leading annual business-to-business event. The event welcomed more than 10,000 attendees, representing 80+ cruise line brands and 500+ exhibitors from over 140 countries.
