Minister Sets Transformation Agenda for Solomon Islands Tourism Sector
20 February 2026The Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) will undertake a series of stakeholder engagement meetings in Nadi from 16–18 February 2026, reinforcing collaboration with Fiji tourism stakeholders and advancing preparations for the South Pacific Tourism Exchange (SPTE) 2026.
SPTO Chief Executive Officer Chris Cocker, accompanied by Executive Assistant Benjamin Shaw, will lead the engagements as part of SPTO’s annual engagement calendar. The visit aims to provide updates on SPTO’s 2026 programme of activities, gather insights into Fiji’s tourism landscape, and strengthen partnerships across the sector.
The meetings will focus on promoting SPTO’s key initiatives to add value to our Pacific industry attending SPTE 2026, including the upcoming Industry day on 24th March and Women in Business exhibition during SPTE 2026, 25th- 26th March, which continues to serve as the region’s premier tourism trade event connecting Pacific tourism operators with global buyers and partners.
Mr Cocker emphasised the importance of direct engagement with stakeholders in shaping the future of Pacific tourism.
“Strong partnerships remain the foundation of sustainable tourism growth across the Pacific. These engagements allow SPTO to listen to industry perspectives, share strategic priorities, and work collaboratively to strengthen opportunities for Pacific tourism through SPTE 2026 and beyond,” said Mr Cocker.
The stakeholder meetings will also provide an opportunity to align industry priorities with SPTO’s current Strategic Plan, strengthen awareness of SPTO programmes, and encourage increased participation and support for SPTE 2026 and related regional initiatives.
Mr Shaw will support the engagement programme by coordinating stakeholder meetings, documenting key discussions, supporting communications and public relations activities, and ensuring timely follow-up on action items arising from the visit.
Through these engagements, SPTO aims to strengthen industry collaboration, increase participation in regional tourism initiatives, and support informed decision-making through updated industry insights.
