Pacific Tourism Organisation Strengthens Regional Tourism Collaboration at Tonga’s National Tourism Forum

The Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) recently participated in the National Tourism Forum, held from March 13-14 at the Fa’onelua Conference Centre in Nuku’alofa, Tonga. Hosted by the Ministry of Tourism, the forum, themed “Shaping a Resilient Future for Tonga in Times of Challenge”, brought together key industry stakeholders to discuss the future of Tonga’s tourism sector.

SPTO CEO Christopher Cocker highlighted the forum’s significance, stating, “This platform provided a valuable opportunity for industry stakeholders in Tonga to engage in meaningful dialogue on building a resilient and sustainable tourism sector. SPTO remains committed to supporting our Pacific Island members in strengthening their tourism frameworks, particularly in the face of ongoing challenges.”

SPTO’s contributions included facilitating discussions on sustainable tourism, investment policies, industry resilience, and tourism branding. The organisation also reinforced collaboration with regional partners, further strengthening its commitment to advancing tourism in Tonga and the wider Pacific.

“The discussions and outcomes from this forum are essential for Tonga’s tourism sector as it moves toward a more sustainable and resilient future. SPTO is proud to support Tonga in its journey to enhance tourism development, investment, and sustainability,” said Mr Cocker.
