Fiji’s Malamala Beach Club Sets Opening Date
6 August 2017The Pacific Islands Private Sector Organisation (PIPSO) recently formed a partnership with Pacific Trade and Invest – China which saw the Beijing team hosting PIPSO Programme Officer Venina Niumataiwalu for three months.
Venina joins Pacific Islands Trade & Invest China as the Pacific Exchange Officer for the next 3 months. She will be focusing on developing the Pacific Islands Sustainable Development Framework for interaction with Asian economies, an outcome of the 2017 Joint Dialogue between Ministers, Private Sector and Civil Society Organisations. After a briefing with her new colleagues consisting of six Staff and two Volunteers, PT&I hosted a formal lunch to introduce Venina. This was attended to by the Fiji Embassy based in Beijing.
While she still settling in and getting to know her way around the city, Venina is working on the Pacific Islands Sustainable Framework for Interaction with Asian Economies – PT&I China was asked to develop this framework following the Forum Economic Ministers Meeting held in Suva in April this year. The Pacific Islands Development Framework for Interaction with Asian Economies ideally will provide an overarching set of principles and opportunities in the Pacific’s regional economic interactions with major Asian economies such as Korea, Japan, India, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and particularly China, Asian’s biggest and the world’s second largest economy.
