PNG Tourism Promotion Authority (TPA) will host a secondary schools debate in Port Moresby to commemorate the World Tourism Day.
World Tourism Day will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 27.
TPA marketing and research director Alice Kuaningi said the aim is to inform students about the importance of tourism in PNG and around the world.
“As a lead up to the debate challenge, our team has visited several schools within Port Moresby to display and educate them on the importance of tourism, culture and trade in the country,” she said.
The awareness visits to the schools began two weeks ago from September 4-5 and 11-15 and ended on Tuesday.
Round one of the debate will be held at the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) hall on Saturday, September 23.
However with TPA scheduled for other activities, the semi-finals will take place at the UPNG Open Square on September 25 while the grand finale will be staged at Vision City’s Paradise Cinema on Tuesday 26.
