22 December 2020Pacific Trade Invest (PTI) Australia says businesses in Fiji have shown immense resilience in what has been exceptionally trying times.
PTI Australia Trade Commissioner Caleb Jarvis says their research shows that while extent and severity of negative COVID-19 impacts have remained high in Fiji, confidence in business survival has risen over the past few months.
“In May, only 59 per cent of businesses in Fiji reported they were confident they would survive the crisis and in November, that figure rose to 74 per cent, with the announcement of the Trans-Tasman bubble and vaccines providing businesses with added confidence that a Fiji bubble will open in 2021.
“Our thoughts are with Fiji this week as they face further devastation due to Cyclone Yasa. We stand in solidarity with the people of Fiji and as we understand the impact of Yasa on businesses, we will continue to tailor the delivery of our services to support business in Fiji in their recovery,” he said.
