Fiji Airways Pilots To Wear Pink Stripes This Month
1 October 2017CHI, The Spa at Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort celebrated its 10th anniversary on Thursday.
Resort general manager Francis Lee said he was proud of how far the spa had come in a decade and he acknowledged the sacrifice, commitment and determination of Chi Spa manager Nirmala Naidu and her dedicated team of therapists and support staff.
Ms Naidu said having a team of enthusiastic young professionals made her job all the more satisfying.
“We have all the ingredients that contribute to success — great support from the Shangri-La’s Fijian management, a beautiful location and 26 amazing staff of whom 17 are qualified therapists,” she said.
Ms Naidu has been a key driver behind the success of Chi Spa having been there since the day the treatment facility was first established.
When asked what made the spa different from all the others, she said it was the layout of the facility and the types of treatment on offer.
“We are different in terms of our concept.
“We have treatment rooms specifically for individual guests or a couple — they do not share facilities, they have total privacy and space and this is a big attraction of Chi Spa and unique to our facility.
“Other spas have a public area where they change and have to share the waiting area with other spa guests. At Chi Spa, they have the relaxation lounge to themselves and are escorted by therapists to the treatment room for the duration of their treatment.”
Ms Naidu said among the types of therapies on offer was the Chi signature treatment.
“This is the same regardless of which Shangri-La property you go to in the world and then we have our traditional Fijian bobo and local facials with fresh local products.”
One treatment that is also popular with guests is the unique Dusk to Dawn therapy.
“Basically the guest stays in-house, the treatment starts at 5pm depending on the guest, they undergo a steam bath for 30 minutes in the sauna followed by a body scrub and body massage before freshening up for dinner.
“They have a range of very healthy options specially prepared by our chefs and after dinner is served the guests retire.
“The next morning breakfast is served at 7am and they undergo the last treatment which is a facial.
“This is unique to Chi and is not available anywhere else in Fiji.”
