Solomon Islands Cruise Tourism Enters New Growth Phase
13 April 2026Over two days, the South Pacific Tourism Exchange (SPTE) 2026 delivered 2,809 pre-scheduled business meetings. A total of 164 organisations—spanning buyers, sellers, media, women-led businesses, and partners—from 30 countries participated.
Fiji’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Viliame Gavoka, said the Exchange delivered on its core objective—driving meaningful connections with lasting impact.
“Over the past two days, connection has been realised—through conversations that will translate into real partnerships and real opportunities for our people,” he said.
He emphasised that SPTE is more than a marketplace—it is a strategic engine for growth.
“The relationships built here will outlast the event. They will be reflected in increased visitor arrivals, new air routes, stronger businesses, and more resilient communities across the Pacific.”
Under the theme “Tourism that Connects: Culture, Climate, Community,” SPTE 2026 moved beyond dialogue to delivery—showcasing a Pacific that is grounded in identity, aligned in purpose, and ready for global scale.
Chair of the SPTO Board, Adela Issachar Aru, underscored the strength of partnership driving this success.
“SPTE is partnership in action—where governments, industry, and development partners align to deliver real outcomes. The confidence of our sponsors reflects the strength and credibility of this platform,” she said.
She highlighted the leadership of Fiji Airways as Platinum Sponsor, whose role in strengthening regional and international connectivity remains critical to unlocking growth. New Zealand Māori Tourism was also recognised as a Silver Sponsor for advancing indigenous tourism and reinforcing shared cultural values across the region.
SPTE 2026 also introduced key initiatives, including the Industry Day—building sector readiness—and the Women in Business programme, elevating women-led enterprises and advancing inclusive growth across the Pacific.
