South Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) has partnered with South Pacific Cruise Alliance (SPCA) to coordinate the participation of a Pacific delegation from nine Pacific islands at the Seatrade Cruise Global in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA.

“Tourist arrival by sea increased by 20% during the period of 2015-16, for the 2016 period cruise arrivals accounted for 99.8% for the Pacific, the Seatrade Cruise Global is a leading exhibit and conference that will help educate our delegation on trends in the global cruise industry and promote the South Pacific as a premiere destination” said SPTO Chief Executive Officer, Christopher Cocker.

SPTO also hopes to identify opportunities and challenges for cruise development in the Pacific and increase knowledge of Pacific Islands’ cruise tourism products.

“The key is to connect with global cruise line executives and key cruise tourism players here and showcase the South Pacific and to also help the global cruise network understand SPTO’s role and development initiatives in cruise tourism” said SPTO Marketing Manager, Alisi Lutu.

Part of the delegation also includes National Tourism Offices (NTO’s) representatives, in bound tour operators, shipping agencies and Port/Maritime Authorities.

The Pacific delegation includes SPCA representatives from; Cook Islands, Fiji, Samoa, American Samoa, Tahiti, Tonga, New Caledonia, Pitcairn Island and Kiribati who will participate with SPTO. This will be the second time Kiribati will be participating since 2015.

Seatrade Cruise Global has been the leading international exhibition and conference serving the cruise industry by bringing together buyers and suppliers for a week of networking, sourcing, innovation, and education.
