Beyond the Beaches: Discover What Makes Each Pacific Destination Truly Unique
25 August 2025Iōkwe from the SPTO Division of Sustainable Tourism!
This issue provides a recap of sustainable tourism developments from across the Pacific region during July, highlighting initiatives and updates that are shaping the region’s tourism landscape.
A key highlight was the Pacific Regional Gastronomy Workshop held in Nadi at the start of July, while the Division also undertook a scoping mission in Vanua Levu to support peer-to-peer community-based tourism.
In this issue, we turn the spotlight to the Republic of the Marshall Islands, featuring Voices of Resilience: Youth Lead the Way in Climate Adaptation through Art as the country feature, and the Jimor Wodejipel Initiative in Sustainable Tourism as the sustainable tourism champion. We also showcase the launch of the Republic of the Marshall Islands’ High-Level Sustainable Tourism Policy & Development Strategy as the NTO Update, and highlight the nation’s strong commitment to conservation and resilience in our Towards 2030 story.
Our Resource of the Month is drawn from the World Economic Forum: Travel & Tourism at a Turning Point. You’ll also find the latest updates in our Sustainable News Section, covering key stories from across the Pacific, as well as announcements and upcoming events.
Looking ahead, preparations are well underway for the Pacific Sustainable Tourism Leadership Summit, with the programme and registrations to be announced soon.
We encourage you to stay connected, keep an eye out for upcoming opportunities, and sign up for our newsletter via the link provided in this issue.
