The SPTO has provided financial support to representatives from the national tourism offices of the Cook Islands, Solomon Islands, Kiribati, Vanuatu and the Republic of the Marshall Islands to undertake a month long training offered by the GSTC.
The GSTC Sustainable Tourism Training Program (STTP) offers practical insights and effective steps to improving sustainability practices and will enable participants to develop viable and actionable sustainable tourism policies and practices at both the national and organisational levels.
GSTC Training Director, Ayako Ezaki, noted the importance of the integrative approach of GSTC training programs, which are benefitting from Pacific representation.
“We are pleased to have five representatives from Pacific island nations – Vanuatu, Marshall Islands, Solomon Islands, Kiribati, and Cook Islands to be part of the GSTC online course, and are grateful for the support provided by the Pacific Tourism Organization that has made this opportunity possible. Our course is attended by tourism professionals from over 25 countries, and our group benefits greatly from learning together with, and sharing ideas and insights with the Pacific tourism leaders, whose contributions enrich our course experience”, she said.
The Pacific representatives (Hudson Kaefia – Solomon Islands, Sieni Tiraa – Cook Islands, Petero Manufolau – Kiribati, Gregil Tomaki – Vanuatu, Anastasia Dujmovic – Republic of the Marshall Islands) are scheduled to complete their training by 19 February.
