SPTO partners with Rosie Holidays to deliver virtual trainings

The Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) is partnering with Rosie Holidays through its Travel Academy in Fiji to deliver training programmes for selected Small Island States and Territories (SIST) in the region. Focused on Inbound Travel Management and Small and Micro Enterprise Business Recovery, the trainings are part of a joint programme of support by regional organisations in the Pacific on capacity building for small island states, between the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat and SPTO.

Given the current circumstances, the two trainings will be delivered virtually to relevant businesses who need this support from SPTO’s SIST members including American Samoa, Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Rapa Nui, Tokelau, Tuvalu and Wallis & Futuna.

In acknowledging the importance of this support for SIST members, SPTO Chief Executive, Christopher Cocker, also acknowledged the importance of partnering with Rosie Holidays to deliver the virtual trainings.
“This work is very important to SPTO, as we recognize that our SIST members have unique challenges and needs which require well thought out and specifically designed support”.

“I am very pleased to be able to partner with Rosie Holidays to deliver these virtual trainings. SPTO has many private sector members who have been hard hit by COVID-19 so providing support and business opportunities to them and other tourism stakeholders is of great importance to us”, he said.

It is envisaged that the trainings will be delivered from February through to 31st July 2021 and will conclude with the development of recommendations on how the project can be delivered to other Pacific Island Countries
