Samoa to be China Ready – Attracting Chinese visitors effectively
5 July 2018With Tourism designated by the Government of Samoa as the mainstay of its economy, the Samoa Tourism Authority (STA) continues to push through with its mission of promoting quality Sustainable Tourism that is beneficial to Samoa and satisfactory to tourists seeking a premier Samoa Experience.
Attracting Chinese visitors effectively, is the overall aim of sessions hosted by STA, with the speaker being the Chairman, of the Association of Small Medium Owners (SME) in the International China Investment Forum (ICIF), Mr Marcus Lee.
Presentations by Mr Lee detailed innovative ways and networking opportunities on how to effectively attract both the quality Chinese visitors, and the top Chinese investors to Samoa.
Members of the Tourism industry and stakeholders were enlightened on effective ways to promote local tourism and general businesses to the massive Chinese market. The presentations suggested the need for a combined effort from the Government and the Private sector, to implement effective ways in promoting Samoa and enticing not only visitors, but top investors to invest in Samoa.
Such innovative efforts put forth include a collective roadshow to China, where everyone participates together with STA, including the tourism industry, other relevant Government agencies such as SIFA, and the wider private sector.
Members who attended the separate sessions within the two days were appreciative of the concepts and strategies laid out during the presentations, which touched on four key topics of the market trends and destinations within China, the challenges and suggestions for Samoa, the target of promotions, and ways to promote Samoa to China.
Once connectivity is settled with regards to flights from China, Mr Lee highlighted the importance of Samoa to prepare for the Chinese visitors by being – China Ready. This will be his next session when he returns to Samoa to launch the China Ready programme in collaboration with the Government through STA on the 8th of August 2018.
