An emerging activity in the Solomon’s, however is growing significantly. One of the world’s last surfing frontiers, be one of the first to surf these breaks.
Uncrowded surf spots, ready to be enjoyed located in a pristine natural and cultural environment.
Best season for waves are usually from November – April when the North Pacific awakens. Ground swells last a longer period in areas of Malaita, Ysabel and Makira. Swells can be 3 to 6 feet but can be bigger.
Less reliable southerly swells reaches the Southern coasts of Western and Guadalcanal Provinces during the same season.
Florida Islands in the Central Province has a number of surfing locations. An hour boat ride from Honiara. Choose from any of available accommodations to stay and enjoy surfing.
Isabel Province has swells that are more often. This is the surfers’ playground with wide variety of waves in the area.
Gizo surrounds – Naru, Titiana and Paellonge are locations for surfing in the Western Province. Others include Skull Island and VonaVona Lagoon, Munda.
Best season around November to April.
North Malaita has a surf camps, built traditionally styled on stilts above aqua blue water with a spectacular view overlooking the breaks and lagoon.
Makira – Star Harbour towards the eastern Solomons offers great surfing as well. Here, the surfing season is from October – January.
