Goal Four : Healthy Islands and Oceans

This Initiatives page highlights our work in implementing Goal 4 of the 2030 Pacific Sustainable Tourism Policy Framework, which aims to support the tourism sector’s role in enhancing healthy islands and oceans. We focus on protecting Pacific islands, coastal and ocean ecosystems, through tourism, and building resilience to climate change and transitioning to a low-emission, resource-efficient sector. The initiatives here highlight knowledge sharing and exchange in climate resilience, capacity building, phasing out single-use plastics, environmental management of tourism accommodations, and promoting responsible wildlife practices. These efforts aim to build the tourism sector’s capacity in promoting, protecting and creating healthy and resilient islands and oceans.
