Tourism Development Strategy: 42 Actions Out Of 134 Already Committed
24 August 2017The Minister of Tourism, Nicole Bouteau, and the President of the Chamber of Commerce (CCISM) Stéphane Chin-Loy met on Thursday afternoon to discuss various common issues.
Issues surrounding the involvement and representation of civil society and the economic world in governance and tourism steering bodies were raised. Nicole Bouteau was able to recall her desire to be able to associate economic actors closely in the development and implementation of public policies in the sector. It is in this spirit that they are invited to participate in the work both within the board of directors of Tahiti Tourism, as well as within the Tourism Observatory, and in several technical or sectoral steering committees , Such as the one dedicated to the Cruise Development Strategy which was initiated last month.
The CCISM, which accompanies the actors for their administrative and commercial procedures, for initial and continuing training, but also for the prospecting of new markets and export, wishes to consolidate its position as a government partner, within the framework of the Strategy of Development of Tourism 2015-2020. Always vigilant on the new trades, new trends, the CCISM also wishes to carry out a fundamental work on the opening of French Polynesia to a range of services and receptive offers with a wider tourist vocation and to invite its members and partners To mobilize to devise realistic and concrete solutions.
In terms of sectoral structuring, the presence of CCISM antennas in the archipelagos (Marquesas and Leeward Islands) is a valuable link, alongside the administrative districts, to enable the deployment of public policies, actions And training programs for new tourism professions. The synergies that are also exerted through Papeete Center Ville and Uturoa Center Ville, and which actively participate in the reception of cruise ships, are exemplary and allow to mobilize economic actors beyond the only tourist actors.
Finally, the minister spoke of the potential for convergence between tourism promotion and the commercial actions of Polynesian exporters in the various markets. For the next few years, it hopes to multiply this type of action and to work on triggering sales of stays during future export missions abroad.
