The government of French Polynesia has decided to close its tourism office in Russia.
The decision to open an office in St Petersburg was made last year but the tourism minister Nicole Bouteau says it will now be shut next month.
Speaking to Radio1 in Tahiti, she said the closure was related to the staff chosen to run the office, saying there were issues reaching them.
When the project was launched, the office was supposed to enhance bilateral links.
According to Tahiti’s public broadcaster, the initiative stemmed from last year’s meeting between the president Edouard Fritch and the head of the St Petersburg centre for international relations and cultural exchange.
