6 December 2017The Tourism Minister Nicole Bouteau, opened on Friday the 13 th edition of the Tahiti Travel Exchange held at Tahiti Pearl Beach Resort.
The objective of this one-day B2B event is to give partners in the North American market (USA & Canada) the opportunity to build relationships between international and local players. This meeting will expand the knowledge of travel agents and tour operators on the destination Tahiti and its Islands. The latter participated in training programs on the destination, networking and experience of Polynesia. The minister recalled that the North American market was the 1 st source market for French Polynesia and thus represents 40% of visitors.
The novelty of this thirteenth edition is the training of these North American professionals in local products to add to that on the destination. Thus, beyond the usual tourist actors, industrial and cultural partners were invited to present the monoï and the pearl of Tahiti, and the traditional navigation in particular. Their participation consists of a workshop training of thirty rotations of about 10 minutes. As the minister pointed out in her speech, the point is to promote and sell a destination rich in culture and people.
Nicole Bouteau was able to show the actions in favor of the development and the improvement of the experience of our visitors, in particular at the level of the air, the cruise, the accommodation and the activities. In total, twenty-seven local tourism partners representing air, cruise, international hotels and activities and services were present. There were also 110 foreign agents for this meeting, including eight tour operators covering the North American market, certified Tahiti Specialist agents and new agents: Classic Vacations , Goway Travel , Islands in the Sun , Pacific Holidays, Pleasant Holidays, Tahiti Nui Travel, Chanteclerc Tours and Travel2.
The local receptive organizes the visits of their agents with visits of site and inspection, meetings in the field as well as activities which they wish to promote.
In addition, as part of the implementation of the tourism development strategy, their stay (7 to 8 days) is arranged so that they can discover islands and less known activities to encourage agents to sell at beyond the classic Tahiti-Moorea-Bora Bora circuit.
The Minister of Tourism concluded her speech by thanking and warmly welcoming the work, trust and commitment of these international agents and tour operators, essential for the development of Polynesian tourism.
