Tahiti’s Operation Seduction In Montreal

The first edition of “Tahiti in Montreal” will take place on September 7, 8 and 9, 2017, Place des Arts, at the Complexe Desjardins de Montréal.

“Tahiti in Montréal” will be an inter-cultural, tourist and inter-entrepreneurial showcase exclusively dedicated to the French Polynesia’s reputation. Polynesian companies, associations, artisans, institutions, entrepreneurs, economic and political actors will be gathered together. The event will be punctuated by numerous public lectures on the assets of the fenua: tourism of course, but also the black pearl of Tahiti or monoi.

Designed as a Polynesian village, this tourist, cultural and business relations fair will allow all these economic and social players to come to represent Polynesia, promote it, make it discover, create an emulation and inter-action with economic actors Quebec and Canada.

For the organizers, this is a tremendous opportunity to discover the products, the culture of French Polynesia, while creating professional connections and business relations between the two countries. This event will also offer French Polynesia another way to touch and develop the North American tourism market.

For this, different tools will be put in place, in order to make the destination more accessible.

Thursday 7 September

10h00  : Official opening.
• Traditional welcome by members of the Polynesian Students Association and organizers (crowns of flowers and musical animation), to various political and economic figures.
• Speech by the creators and organizers of Tahiti in Montreal.
• Address by Mrs. Feuillet, Console General of France in Montreal.
• Address by Mrs. Nicole Bouteau, Minister of Tourism of French Polynesia.
• Speech by Polynesian and Canadian personalities.
• Presentation of the exhibitors and visit of the Polynesian village, with officials and journalists.
12:00  : Polynesian dance by the Tamari’i No Tahiti troupe.
24:30 : Conference on the inscription of the Sacred Taputapuatea site at UNESCO: worldwide recognition of the Polynesian civilization, by Richard Tuheva.
2:00 pm  : Conference on Tahiti and its Islands by Tahiti Tourism Representation in Canada.
3pm  : Pareo show.
16h00  : Conference on the authentic tourism in Polynesia, by the association of Hotels of Family of Tahiti and its Islands.
18:00  : Dance show by the Tamari’i No Tahiti troupe.
8 pm  : Closing.

Friday 8 September

10h00  : Opening of the Tahiti show in Montréal.
11:00  : Presentation of the destination of French Polynesia by the international airline Air Tahiti Nui.
12:30 pm  : Dance show by the Tamari’i No Tahiti troupe (15 minutes).
1:30 pm  : Conference on the black pearl by Tahiti Pearl Market.
15:00  : Invitation to the making of wreaths and braiding.
17h00  : Conference on tattooing, its Polynesian origins and meaning.
18:00  : Polynesian dance show, initiation and invitation.
8 pm  : Closing.

Saturday 9 September

10h00  : Opening of the Tahiti show in Montréal.
11:00 am  : Vanilla Conference by Francky Tauatiti, Director of Hotu Vanilla.
12:30 pm  : Dance show and invitation to the public by the Tamari’i No Tahiti troupe.
• Closing of the quiz game on French Polynesia.
13:30  : Conference on the Noni by Richard Tuheiava, Director of Maohi Noni Team.
14h30  : Musical animation with the presentation and sales of the sculptures, tapa and tifaifai made during the Tahiti show in Montreal.
15:30  : Conference on Monoi by the company Tiki Parfumerie.
16h30  : Announcement of the winners of the great quiz game on French Polynesia.
• Presentation of the Polynesian Tiki, carved during the 3 days of the show. Offering of sculpture at the Complexe Desjardins
5:30 pm  : Closing performance, invitation to dance, thanks to all participants and partners.
6:00 pm  : Official closure of the 1st Tahiti Show in Montreal.
