Papeari and Mataiea have many tourist sites, some of which are already managed by the country’s services: the Vaipahi Gardens, the Motu Ovini which includes the botanical garden, the former Gauguin Museum and public access. to the landscaped sea but also the source of Vaima, the valleys of Vaihiria and Titaaviri and the Golf of Atimaono. Thus, endowed with a true cultural and environmental wealth, Teva I Uta, « Terre des Sources“, Relies on its land and sea potential to develop nature tourism, aimed at the population and tourists in search of authenticity.
Nicole Bouteau reminded that this approach supports the government’s desire to make the island of Tahiti a destination in the destination and to invite visitors to spend more time on the main island which is full of activities and exceptional sites . The Minister took the opportunity to review the project to build the Gauguin Memorial, following the 2013 closure of the Museum. It will therefore no longer be a museum, the name must respect certain international standards, but rather a memorial, a scenographic space on the life and work of Paul Gauguin especially during his Polynesian period.
The minister has also indicated that the tip of the Motu Ovini is being made available to the municipality of Teva i Uta so that it can with the tourism committee to develop, in addition to the public access to the sea, events, events but also allow the development of tourism and cultural activities ” land-sea “.
Vaima Deniel explained the collaborative work that exists between Tahiti Tourisme and the Polynesian tourism committees, both in terms of tourist information and the reception of visitors, but also in the context of local events organized by the group. especially the “Tere Faati” organized several times a year in collaboration with the municipalities of Tahiti and Moorea and their associations.
