Theme For Yap Home-Coming Summer Festival

The theme for Yap Homecoming Festival 2018:

Yap Visitors Bureau has announced the theme of this year’s Homecoming Summer Festival (June 15- 16) to be “A Celebration of 30 Years of Diplomatic Relations between Japan and the FSM”.

This will be very important particularly if the FSM subsidized Air Niugini airline can eventually implement direct service between Narita and Yap. YVB is in the planning stage for the event and is corresponding with the FSM Embassy in Japan.

On the third Saturday of June every year, residents and visitors come together in a fun social atmosphere to celebrate the beginning of summer! A marketplace takes place with booths offering food and handicrafts for sale. Activities include a Stone Money ceremony, traditional dances, canoe building and carving demonstrations, canoe rides, and more.

On June 15 – 16, 2018, the Yap Visitors Bureau will welcome all Yap citizens here and abroad, current and past residents and visitors to the Homecoming Summer Festival. Come celebrate this kick-off- the summer festival when families and friends, new and old, reunite at the Living History Museum in Colonia. And don’t forget to bring your camera!
